Children's Choir Director

• opportunity for full-time work with benefits if combined with Music Teacher position at our School or office hours in Parish Office
• Candidate is preferably Catholic and committed to/professes all of the tenets of the Catholic Church.
• Candidate speaks English or is bilingual (English and Spanish), but preferably could handle singing or playing Spanish music.
• The Children's Choir sings for our Spanish 1pm Sunday masses and rehearses Tuesday evenings. Rehearsals are conducted in English (the children mostly speak English), but communication with parents frequently happens in Spanish. If you cannot converse in Spanish, the Children's Choir accompanist or another employee can help with communication with parents.
• Candidate could cover 2-3 masses a weekend (primarily in Spanish) or could focus on Children's Choir for 1pm mass.
• We are seeking someone who is very Ministry focused and can do a bit of Youth Ministry with the Children's Choir, not just teach them the music for that week.
• We prefer someone who is trained in the Ward Method, or who would be willing to be trained in the Ward Method. Spanish training for the Ward Method is also available.
• Candidate will focus on training and educating the Children's Choir members to grow as skilled musicians while helping them to grow in faith and intentional participation in the Masses
• Children's Choir Director directs masses and rehearsals, coordinates with parents, and prepares for special events as requested by Pastor or Music Director
• Music Degree or equivalent experience in Music Ministry
• Semi-professional or professional level of vocal or piano/organ performance abilities

Candidate could also be called for the following:

• Subbing as Conductor for Adult Choirs and Ensembles
• Singing for masses as needed in the choir or as a soloist, especially for Holy Days
• Assisting the Music Director for important events or Masses
• Singing or Playing for Weddings, Funerals, Quinceaneras, Holy Hours, etc
