Job Description: Madison College's Dining Services is currently in search of a
Part-Time Food Service Assistant to become a valued member of our Dining Services team. Within this position, your responsibilities will include preparation, cooking, and baking tasks. In this role you will uphold the exacting standards set by the Executive and Sous Chefs for Madison College Dining and Event Services, all within the context of a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The
Part-Time Food Service Assistant plays an integral role within the culinary team.
This is a part-time, non-exempt, 25 hours per week, 38 weeks throughout the academic year, flexible working hours between of 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Part-Time Food Service Assistant directly reports to the Executive Chef of Madison College.

Responsibilities: - Position will adhere to all food safety handling procedures.
- Position will operate serving stations as needed to play a key role in contributing to student and guest satisfaction.
- Position will produce goods in large quantities for services.
- Maintain accurate par levels to ensure food cost and food quality are maintained.
- Substitute for or assist other team members during emergencies, absences, or service rush periods.
- Position will assist with receiving, product rotation, and restocking of all food and supplies for Food Services
- Consult with supervisory and leadership staff to plan menus while considering factors such as costs and special event needs.
- Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values. Comply with college policies, directives, and work rules. Engages positively with colleagues, handles conflict directly and professionally, contributes to team discussions, collaborates, and helps colleagues, assumes the best from colleagues, provides, and accepts constructive feedback, follows through on commitments, and supports final decisions that are made.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of basic food service and preparation techniques, recipe conversion, knife skills, kitchen function and safety and sanitation practices.
- Knowledge of basic math to perform recipe conversion for large volume cooking.
- Knowledge of mechanical kitchen equipment such as slicers, dishwashers, ovens, fryers
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
Minimum Requirements: - High School/GED or equivalent working experience. * Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position
- Six (6) months of work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position.
