About Hedra:
Hedra is a pioneering video foundation model company founded by former Stanford PhDs and backed by top investors at Index, A16Z, and Abstract Ventures. We're building a full-stack creation studio capable of control, emotion, and creative intelligence.
We raised 10 million dollars in our seed round to revolutionize content creation. Our flagship product, the Character foundation model, launched in late June and garnered national attention, landing us on the top of Reddit (multiple times!) and Twitter. In early October we released Character-2, which has already produced highly creative and viral content.
Note: Hedra is not a 9-5 job, we're a team of passionate individuals seeking to fundamentally change content and build a generational company together. You must be willing to work in-person in either NYC or SF.
About the role:
As our Lead Designer, you will design our foundational tools which allow our users imagine and direct stories through characters and worlds.
You will own end-to-end design for our products video creation tools across mobile and desktop. You will craft every detail of new product features, from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution.
You will work with passionate engineers and top researchers to build a truly disruptive and novel technology.
You will work closely with the founders to shape the product strategy and realize it though world-class intuitive user experience.
You will create new patterns that are intuitive, practical, and convergent. You will Evolve our design system intentionally as we scale.
We're looking for full-time hires, ideally you will you join us at our office in San Francisco.
Skills You'll Need to Bring:
User-Centered Design and Consumer Obsession.
Have 5+ years of experience designing and shipping complex, yet intuitive consumer products across mobile and web. You seek to understand the needs of consumers and can map the needs to technological capabilities, business, and roadmap.
Creative and Authoring Tools.
Have 2+ years of experience building accessible video creativity tools spanning consumer and enterprise users. More importantly, you're passionate about enabling a new generation of creators and storytellers.
Impeccable Craft.
Excellent design craft and the ability to blend that with strong intuition for business and product strategy. You create clear, intuitive, and visually appealing human interfaces.
Startup Mindset.
You value velocity and execution, communicate clearly, and focus on building what will matter to users and the product. You are resourceful at finding creative ways to overcome challenges.
Self-Motivated and Independent.
You are able to set accurate timelines for development and deliver on them. You have an opinion and the experience to back up that opinion.
And most importantly, treat Hedra as your own and help shape the vision accordingly.
Nice to Haves:
Prior experience crafting design strategy for GenAI, social platform experiences, and/or systems.
Design leadership and experience building and scaling design teams and mentoring designers. Knowledge of best hiring practices.
Deep knowledge around and passion for accessible and inclusive design.
