AtkinsRéalis seeks a highly motivated self-starter to join our Orlando Florida Civil Engineering Group as a Senior Land Development Civil Engineer . Our senior civil engineers do it all – grading, site plans, roads, utilities, stormwater, hydraulic modeling, planning and much more! Our senior civil engineer’s work on a wide range of projects that include commercial, residential, medical, theme park, mixed use, aviation, federal (civilian and military) and municipal (city, county and state) projects. These projects include local, state, national and international projects and range from small, medium, and large size projects. Some projects may also include design-bid-build, and design-build type projects. From assisting both private and governmental agencies at local, state, federal and international levels, our office has helped deliver successful and interesting projects throughout the world. Our project locations offer the opportunity for travel throughout North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. You will also work with other civil engineering groups and other technical disciplines in numerous AtkinsRéalis offices across the US, capitalizing on our vast and experienced pool of engineers, CAD technicians and other professionals throughout the company.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Performs project design for our clients and managing design concepts with oversight when working with our junior engineers, CAD designers or technicians.
  • Plans and reviews the production of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Plans and reviews the production of engineering investigations or planning work.
  • Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution.
  • Analyzes technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Analyzes project scopes and prepares or oversees the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets.
  • Coordinates work with project manager and guides junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.
  • Is responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
  • May occasionally manage projects.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Special Skills

  • Ability to lead and prepare civil engineering projects consisting of construction plans, specifications, and/or design calculations.
  • Experience with roadways, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, storm drain facilities, site grading, stormwater management, earthwork, erosion & sediment control, environmental compliance, ADA compliance, and/or pavement markings & signage.
  • Experience in hydraulic modeling software for stormwater, water and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Conduct periodic site visits, responses to RFI’s, shop drawing review, and more.
  • Ability and willingness to work on private, municipal, state and federal projects.
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Local experience working in the Denver Front Range area.
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge and understanding required.
  • ProjectWise, Bluebeam, SharePoint, and MS Project knowledge and understanding a plus.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
  • Ten to twenty years of experience.

Professional Registrations

  • Florida P.E. license is required.
