Job Details Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file necessary federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns for assigned companies, including the preparation of supporting workpapers and schedules, and monitoring tax calendars.
- Prepare and file required federal, state, and local estimates and extensions for assigned companies.
- Prepare sales and use tax returns for assigned companies.
- Liaise with Accounting, Treasury, and other departments regarding any queries related to assigned companies.
- Review fixed assets and prepare the requisite tax depreciation reports.
- Prepare and review supporting schedules for tax provisions featured in the financial statements for assigned companies.
- Handle the preparation and review of responses to federal and state tax notices or audits for assigned companies.
- Assist with various projects within the Tax department or across departments as necessary.
- Enhance tax knowledge and maintain certification by completing continuing education.
- Compile data to support audit responses and fulfill requests for information from taxing authorities.
- Aid in technology and data initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and streamlining reporting.
- Support research efforts related to tax compliance and planning matters.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Credential with unlimited representation rights before the IRS (such as CPA, Juris Doctorate, or Enrolled Agent).
- Two (2) years of public accounting experience covering a minimum of three of the following areas: C Corporation, S Corporation, individual tax, Partnership, or Trust.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software like ProSystem Fx, CorpTax, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with tax research software and tax provision software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex job-related processes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical skills to assess data, identify issues, and propose potential solutions.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with a focus on taxation or a related field.
- Experience with tools like Alteryx, Microsoft Power BI, or other data reporting tools.
- Background in sales and use tax.
- Experience in preparing tax provisions.
