Overview

The Tech I – Communications role is to support and maintain in-house telephony systems and telecommunications equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, repair and maintain telecommunications equipment including personal computer communications apparatus, data communications equipment, telephone system equipment and new telephones.
  • Install, inspect, and maintain hotel room phones and related telecommunication equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with hotel room phones and other communication systems.
  • Repair or replace faulty or damaged equipment, including wiring and other hardware.
  • Monitor and test systems to ensure they are working properly and efficiently.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to hotel staff and guests.
  • Document procedures, such as equipment installation and troubleshooting steps.
  • The ability to deal with complex systems and face different challenges every day. Good problem-solving skills and an effective problem-solving strategy are important, as the ability to identify problems, think critically, and develop effective solutions is crucial.
  • Telecommunications equipment and systems can be intricate. To ensure installations are done correctly and that potential problems are not overlooked, it's essential that telecommunications technicians have meticulous attention to detail.
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends and suggest upgrades as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in telecommunications preferred.
  • Proven experience as a telecommunications technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunication systems and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment as needed.
